Senior Digital and Social Marketing Director for Industry Leading Film Campaign
$60 - $80k pa (experience dependent), based in Sydney or Perth office
Initial contract 12 – 18 months, with further business development opportunities
Major US Production Company Gran Via Productions (Breaking Bad, Narnia) and Australian company See Pictures (The Little Death, Backtrack), will be working in partnership with national and state government agencies to spearhead a long lead digital and social media campaign for a major motion picture based on a high-profile novel.
Your task will be to build and implement an innovative best practice digital footprint for an independent film title, incorporating long lead growth hacking, community and influencer engagement, social and digital media management. You will build conversations in traditional and social media around key issues, test new methods of audience engagement, report on successes and failures, subtly building long lead demand for a key title over an 18 month period, from shoot stage to the commencement of the official release campaign.
We are a small team so the candidate will have to be self-sufficient, with duties ranging from high-level strategy to research, copywriting and implementation, as well as tracking and analytics.
Reporting to Producer Jamie Hilton and working closely with screen agency executives, a leading independent distributor, experienced film publicists and A-list creative talent, you will manage all aspects of the long lead campaign.
There is great potential for knowledge and skills development and a growing demand for strong digital strategists in the distribution and exhibition space. This high profile 12-18 month campaign will be a key industry case study and should lead the right candidate to career advancement and long-term business development opportunities.
Strong background in digital marketing and social media management with a passion for film
First class communication skills, verbal and written, and a deep understanding of story
Strong project management with outstanding organizational and planning skills
In depth knowledge of audience behavior, segments and where to find them online
Experience using some social influencer and social media management tools like Buzzsumo, Talkwalker, SocialBro, Sysomos and/or Radian6
Active participant on Facebook and/or Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Snapchat, Meetup and other more emerging platforms
Experience leading or working across major brand or creative campaigns on social and digital platforms
Existing network of PR, influencer and media contacts
University degree in Communications, Marketing or related discipline preferred
Advanced computer skills – Web browsing front and backend tools, file sharing, task management, Microsoft Office.
Cinematography, Video editing, graphic design, web publishing, wordpress and/or motion graphics skills a bonus
Self-motivated and able to work both autonomously and in a team
Minimum 3 years experience in a communications environment
Sydney or Perth based but available for domestic travel where needed
